The Consejeria de Educación has no jurisdiction on the recognition and comparability of Spanish qualifications in the United Kingdom.

Directive 2005/36/CE on the recognition of professional qualifications states that any qualified practitioner to teach in an EU country is also entitled to this right in any of the member countries. In the UK it is essential to register and gain Qualified Teacher Status.
Qualified Teacher Status is granted in the UK by the institutions below. Information regarding requirements, documentation and procedures is available at

• General Teaching Council for Scotland 
• General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland 
Among other documentation, you will need to provide an Accreditation Statement of your professional qualifications issued by the Ministry of Education in Spain. Once you are in possession of this Accreditation Statement from the Ministry of Education in Spain, you will need to send it to your General Teaching Council usually accompanied by an English translation.
