A través de este procedimiento se puede solicitar el reconocimiento profesional de títulos, competencia del Ministerio de Educación, de países de la Unión Europea en aplicación de la Directiva comunitaria 2005/36/CE. También permite la consulta posterior del estado de la tramitación de su expediente tras la cumplimentación de la solicitud y de la presentación de la misma en un registro oficial. El Ministerio de Educación tramita las solicitudes para el reconocimiento de las siguientes profesiones: Maestro de Educación Infantil, Maestro de Educación Primaria, Profesor de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato, Profesor de Universidad, Profesor de Enseñanzas Artísticas, Profesor de Enseñanzas de Idiomas, Profesor de Enseñanzas Deportivas y Profesor de Formación Profesional.

By means of this service you can apply for recognition (reconocimiento professional) of the regulated professions covered by Directive 2005/36/EC to the competent authority in Spain, the Ministry of Education. This service also allows users to check the state of their application once completed and submitted to an official registry office. The Ministry of Education is the competent authority responsible for taking a decision when a professional from another member state wants to practise any of the following regulated professions, Early years School Teacher (Maestro de Educación Infantil), Primary School Teacher (Maestro de Educación Primaria), Secondary School Teacher (Profesor de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato), University Lecturer (Profesor de Universidad), Arts Education Teacher (Profesor de Enseñanzar Artísticas), Foreign Language Teacher (Profesor de Enseñanza de Idiomas), Sports Education Teacher (Profesor de Enseñanzas Deportivas), Vocational Training Teacher (Profesor de Formación Profesional).

The documents required are the following:

  • Certified copy ("copia compulsada") of your academic diploma (your University degree) and your professional qualification.
  • Certified copy ("copia compulsada") of the document proving the applicant’s identity and nationality.
  • Certified copy ("copia compulsada") of the academic transcript for the studies completed by the applicant in order to obtain the diploma for which official recognition is sought, which must include, among other things, the official duration, in academic years, of the study programme followed, and the subjects completed,.
  • Official translation (traducción jurada) into Spanish of your diploma, your professional qualification and your academic transcript.
  • In the case of a profession which is not regulated in the Member State of origin, a certificate issued by the competent authority stating that the applicant has practised that profession as a full time occupation for at least two years within the ten-year period preceding the filing of the application.When the applicant's qualification leads to the practice of a regulated profession in the country where it was awarded, certificate issued by the competent authority of this country stating the fulfillment of the requirements for the practice of the regulated profession there for the purpose of its recognition in another country of the EU, EEA or Switzerland under Directive 2005/36/EC."
  • In the case of a profession which is not regulated in the Member State of origin, a certificate issued by the competent authority stating that the applicant has practised that profession as a full time occupation for at least two years within the ten-year period preceding the filing of the application.

The documents mentioned above are indispensable in order to start the recognition process. Afterwards, further documentation may be requested if necessary.

All the documents required by this procedure must be official and must have been issued by the competent authorities, in accordance with the laws of the country in question.
The competent authorities to certify ("compulsar") the photocopies of the documents are the following:

Any public registry office belonging to the state administration or the autonomous communities and some registry offices of the local administrations (many local councils have reached agreements that enable them to operate as public registry offices).

The official recognition of foreign professional qualifications regulated by the EU Directive 2005/36/EC will be authorised through an appropriate document ("credencial") issued by the Subdirección General de Títulos y Reconocimiento de Cualificaciones del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte.

Las resoluciones se formalizarán mediante credencial expedida por la Subdirección General de Títulos  del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte.
